展覽簡介/

藝術家林嶽滄模擬出一套自我約束的制約(除了維生系統以外,只有眼部能夠運作),再以眼控輔具Eye tracker書寫文字,文字的內容是為了完成作品自身而下達的指令,並且將過程藉由影像記錄下來。

 

創作理念/

「身為創作者,當我僅存一雙眼與思緒,我該怎麼活著?」

藝術家透過身體勞動進行理想中作品的再現,這是再正常不過的狀態,而身體的勞動過程往往是作品的存在依據,透過不同的製作痕跡會有種牽引至藝術家身體感的直接聯想,繪畫作品能夠直接地牽引至藝術家的手部勞動,錄像作品則是有著鏡頭設置的勞動過程,有的藝術家甚至透過一個概念的傳遞就能委託工匠或是機器創作,透過健全的身體勞動,我們能夠隨心所欲地達到自我要求的程度,甚至微乎其微的細節都能處理,而藝術家林嶽滄則是模擬出一種極端窘迫的狀態,無法自由動作的身體,甚至連最基本的傳達想法都相當耗時且困難,試圖透過這種狀態重新回歸至創作最初的起源。

Introduction/

Artist Yuecang Lin made a self-restrict simulation (other than life-support system, only eyes are functional), and wrote with an eye controlled auxiliary named Eye tracker, the writings are the instructions to finish the creation itself, and then recorded the process through photographic images.

 

Artist statement/

“As a creator, how do I live when there were only eyes and consciousness left?”

Artists create the artworks of their ideal through physical work; it’s perfectly normal, and the process of physical work is often the proof of existence of the artworks. With different types of creating process, there’s a link which associates the audience to the artist’s body sensation; the paintings associate to the artist’s hands, the photos associate to the process of lens correction, and some artists even create their works by supplying a concept and hire craftsman or use machines to carry out the end product. With a healthy physical work, we can reach our demands without a problem, and even the slightest details can be handled. However, the artist Yuecang Lin simulates an extremely difficult creating environment, without the freedom of movement, even a basic conveyance of concept is very difficult and time consuming. We try to look back on the origin of creating by the simulation of working in an extreme physical state.
