Introduction|
Extremely coloured fruits, intestines bending as rainbows, disembodied body parts assemble together to create new life forms in Lullini’s new body of work. The paintings as much as his drawings and wooden structures have an hypnotic allure at first glance. Under the seemingly abstract shapes and complex forms intertwining a whole universe lays to be discovered. These are in fact portraits and situations of beings beyond the imagination, what our eyes easily categorize as abstract and nonsense here is reassembled into communicating and interacting beings. With eyes as round as planets these creatures looks at us from beneath the surface of the pictures and the artworks become in this way windows over a realm far beyond imagination. The completely improvisative method of composition and the spontaneity of his flow allows Lullini to explore places nobody has seen before and to give life to a universe of his own. The intuitiveness of his painting as much as the abstraction of his structures is in fact a typical characteristic of his new production, the result is a fluid and delicately restless world, where everything is bright and nothing can be still.
Artist Introduction|
Mattia Lullini was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1985.
He has exhibited his works and painted murals across the globe, including in Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, India, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Best known for his colorful, zoomorphic works steeped in a psychedelic, post-pop aesthetic. Characterized by a unique, instantly recognizable style, his artistic language seeks to establish an active dialogue between the public and artist himself. Producing works that are simultaneously playful and contemplative, he utilizes a complex balance of shapes to communicate in a dreamlike, highly symbolic fashion. Embracing a multimedia approach his portfolio features a wide cross-section of work, including epic murals, wooden multi-layered structures, engravings, silkscreens and limited edition books.
