Introduction:
Incubator is the green house for microorganisms in biology experiments. ‘Incubator’ here is used to describe a new culture this exhibition aims to breed. Through the inbreeding of Science, Biology, and Art, the works hope to bring viewer surprise as if seeing new species, of which under the science fiction-like appearance hides the true scientific values. Topics of this exhibition including Microbiology-human relationship, Metamaterial and scientific mind states, reinvention of organs, to mutant species, which touches the domain of Biology, Medical Science, Physics, to Visual Arts and Design. Which the exhibition tends to bring up the discussion about the role of ‘BioArt’ in 21st century in Taiwan.

‘BioArt’ expends the traditional definition of new media art. Technology is no longer just the medium for new media art but the practice of art and the collision of art and science have actively influenced the development of science. ‘BioArt’ has raised the questions of ethics in art and science as well as providing new alternative futures for human beings. This new area is not only a new trend in art but also envision the birth of a new culture.

Fred Ku
http://www.facebook.com/KuKuangYi.Fred

1985 Born in Taipei, Taiwan.Currently studying in MA Communications Design, Shih Chien University, and Master of Dentistry in Department of Dentistry, National Yang-Ming University. He is working as a professional dentist and artist at the same time. Has got his work exhibited in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. His most recent series “Organic Mimicry of Prosthesis” was made with dental material which he deconstructed the function of oral prosthesis, and changed the shapes from single organs to multiple creatures’ mimicry. And he tries to show the discrepancy of organic-inorganic ambiguity and the condition between reality and virtuality.

Haohsin Aushin Chang
Graduated from BSc Life Science, National Taiwan University, currently studying in MFA in Trans-disciplinary Art, Taipei National University of Arts. He discusses the relationship between Science and Society and society’s imagination of material science through the form of contemporary art. He has participated in 2009 SIGGRAPH Art Gallery, Forum Biennial, Taipei Contemporary Art Center, and is sponsored by Contemporary Art Foundation, Taipei, Taiwan.

Pei-Ying Lin
http://peiyinglin.net/
Graduated from MA Design Interactions, Royal College of Art. Holds a BSc in Life Science, National Tsing Hua University, with double minor in Computer Science and Humanities & Social Sciences. Main focus is on how Science can interact with human society, and how the hidden desires of human beings can be set free through the help of technology or change the culture. She likes to create new fiction around the topics of social sciences and human perception. Her interests is to observe people through biological experiments and theatre.

Ai Hasegawa http://aihasegawa.info/
I am a dreamer. I use art and design to present a solution to the challenges encountered in our daily lives. At the same time, the solution itself questions our perception of living in this world. Having studied computer graphic animation and interactive media art at IAMAS, Japan, my animation creations for ecological education are shown on Japanese national TV. After moving to London, I began working as an animator, character designer and illustrator. At the same time I worked as designer for audience participatory interactive public art, for example Sky, Burble and Evoke with Haque Design and Research. In 2012, I graduated with an MA in Interactions Design at The Royal College of Art. Recent works are “The Extreme Environment Love Hotel” series, “I wanna deliver a shark…” and “Shared Baby”.
